Ugly toes

by Liz
(Alexandria, La)

Just recently after a long day of fast furious shopping with my sister the ball of my right foot felt bruised. This continued for about a month and then the top of my foot started to hurt, right below my toes.

I put a heating pad to the top of my foot to ease the pain and swelling but then seemed like the 2nd toe started pulling to the big toe. I have tried a medrol dose pack, celebrex and tramolol.

It still hurts!! Am I developing hammer toe. All my toes used to look pretty good for toes!!! Does any one have any suggestions?

Bruised Foot
by: Zac

Liz,

Sounds to me that you bruised your foot, which can take a while to heal. What type of shoes do you regularly wear?

I would recommend wearing the most comfortable and supportive shoes you can and see if this helps the healing process.

As far as developing hammer toe, it is hard to say without looking at your toe. (This is why we have an upload picture option in our forums).

If you have a digital camera, or already have a picture on your computer, simply repost with a picture we can take a look at.

By the way, I don't recommend using a heat pad since this can actually increase inflammation and swelling.

Our zinc and tea tree lotion works quite well for inflammation, and all around foot care.

One more thing, avoid high heels and tight fitting shoes! These are probably the leading cause of foot problems in general, and hammer toes in particular.

Please feel free to add more information and ask more questions.

Best wishes,
Zac
