Tip On Food and Skin Correlation

by Ashley
(U.S)

For a very long time I believed that eating sweets and greasy foods affected my skin. I mean, I always remember my mom telling me to stop eating so many Hershy’s bars or I’ll break out, and even my doctor told me that my sweet tooth was the reason for my broken out face.

Well, I’m 19 and STILL having problems with acne, and I decided to get down to the real roots of things. Despite what the doctors have told me, I have found through research that it isn’t necessarily chocolate and grease that cause acne. Although, it is known, that the caffeine in chocolate can cause stress, which CAN cause acne.

The only other foods that are really known to create a break-out are, surprisingly enough, dairy products. Acne is mainly caused by the hormones. Hormonal contents of milk are present in sufficient quantities to have biologic effects in girls, and raises the possibility that other hormonally sensitive glands may also be affected. So there you have it.

So don’t worry about indulging yourself on some French fries every once in a while. And maybe, if you’re having some trouble with acne, try switching to soy milk, which isn’t really all that bad.

Food and Acne Correlation

Ashley,

Thanks for sharing. As for what we eat, it has an overal effect on how we look and feel.

But you are right, fries and even a quarter pounder with cheese occasionally won't hurt you.
Moderation and balance is the key to a good diet.

We will be adding this post to our new acne questions and answers page soon. Come on back and share some more with us will you?

Best wishes,
Zac
