Tea tree oil for dandruff

by Rapunzal
(Indiana)

My husband has a very dry scalp. In fact, he often resembles the people in dandruff commercials, he has so much of the gunk on his shirts. He works in a factory where the air is dry and the chemicals in the air suck moisture out of skin in a hurry.

Currently, I have him using a shampoo with rosemary and mint in it, which helps a bit. I heard somewhere that tea tree oil can help with dry scalp, so I purchased some as an essential oil.

How many drops per ounce do I need to add to his shampoo bottle? I know that essential oils can burn if in too high a concentration, so I want to be careful. Also, would using a conditioner help at all, or is that mainly for dry hair?

Tea Tree For Dandruff
by: Zac

Rapunzal,

Tea Tree Oil does help control dandruff. We have a tea tree shampoo available here on our site for that reason.

For stubborn dandruff problems I highly recommend our FlakeFree therapeutic hair gel. I has tea tree, peppermint oil, zinc, and numerous beneficial herbal ingredients which remain in contact with the scalp.

This provides around the clock dandruff control. I personally use it to keep my scalp clear, and I have very severe dandruff before I started using it.

The obvious benefit it provides over shampoo, is that it isn't rinsed off within moments like shampoo. But remains in contact with the scalp.

It is the best dandruff control product I have ever used.

Best wishes,
