Stress and Dandruff

by Amrutha

Stress is one of the main causative for Dandruff. Believe it or not, I feel it is true. When you are stressed out too much, your blood circulation to your head and in turn to your extreme ends of the scalp becomes low. So there is less oxygen and hence the scalp dries out faster. It is only when your scalp dries out more; there is more room for your fungus to thrive well with the little moisture that is sweat.

In addition to your scalp getting dried, from the external environment more dust and polluted particles get deposited and they work with your dirty moisture under your scalp where dandruff gets worse. It is more pronounced during the winter or rainy season since we take hair wash not daily during that time.

I feel stress is also yet another factor besides dust. When we get stressed out, we may become too busy about our own job or work at the office. Hence we take very little care about our personal health. And about our hair, we take least notice.

I think the solution can be like this. The more cool headed we become, and give optimum care to our health and in turn our hair care, the less dandruff we are likely to have.
