Scalp Sores

by Debby
(Oregon)

I'm a 52 year old female. I developed a staph infection on my scalp from dipping my hat in irrigation ditches the summer before last in the heat to cool off. As a result I lost a lot of hair and have two silver dollar size bald spots. My derm says they probably won't grow back. I used antibiotics and steroid cremes for several months, the staff infection is gone, but I still have several thick kind of hard, crusty, scabby patches that won't go away and my hair has thinned all over, along with the bald spots. My derm said now that the staph infection is gone I have unspecified alopecia and inflammation and there is not much more he can do. But I think if I could get my scalp to clear up, it would at least prevent any more hair loss. Any ideas on what I might do? Thanks!

Answer

Debby,

I would use our tea tree and zinc hair gel which I recommend for scalp dermatitis. Your symptoms sound exactly the same.

Tea Tree Oil as well as Zinc Pyrithione are anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-septic. Tea tree also has punitive penetrating qualities which enhance the beneficial herbal ingredients benefits as well.

Visit our Scalp Treatment Products page for details.

Best wishes,
