Scalp Scabs

Scalp Scab Relief Products
Hi,
I have been noticing scalp scabs when I itch the back of my head. They are sometimes yellowish crusty lumps, and sometimes red scabs as if my scalp is bleeding.
Do you think I have severe dandruff, or something else?
I use dandruff shampoo but it doesn't seem to help.
Any advice you could give me would be appreciated.
Thanks
Answer:Jay,
What you are describing is scalp dermatitis. Dermatitis also known as eczema is an inflammation of the skin and or scalp.
Often times the inflamed area will weep fluid which then crusts over creating the yellowish scabs you describe. Itching your scalp can cause the area to bleed making them turn red as well.
I am not surprised that dandruff shampoos are not providing relief in your case. The active ingredients in shampoo simply aren't in contact long enough to be effective.
What I use and have recommended to literally thousands of scalp sufferers is FlakeFree therapeutic hair gel. It is formulated with FDA approved zinc pyrithione, tea tree oil, and numerous beneficial herbal ingredients.
The active ingredients are anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-septic, and anti-fungal. Along with these strong therapeutic qualities the key is they stay in continual contact with your scalp.
Simply work into your hair with finger tips particularly in the affected areas. (I use the gel after showering) Then style as usual.
If you don't like the hold, simply run a comb or brush through your hair to soften it up.
Use daily and you will see results in a day or two. Continue for at least a couple of weeks and at the slightest sign of any more scalp scabs.
You can also simply continue to use as your "normal" styling gel.
