Please Help My Teen-age Daughter!

by Sandi
(MN)

My 14 year old daughter has severe eczema. Although her whole body is affected, the skin condition is most prominent on her hands, arms and legs.

She first experienced eczema at about 2 months old. Back then, signs would be the typical rashes and itchy areas. However, as she's matured, the condition worsened. She now has the itchy rash patches, but also extremely dry skin.

Because her skin is so dry, it often cracks open and bleeds. Her hands are the most affected. Because of her constant scratching over the years, the skin on her hands has toughened and wrinkled considerably. Although she's only 14, her hands look like they're 50!

Her skin condition has caused a lot of teasing and comments amongst her peers at school. She's ashamed of the way her skin looks, and has become very insecure in social situations.

Over the years, I have spent thousands of dollars on eczema products that promised her some relief. Unfortunately, I have not found one that has helped. I finally quit trying, and now use Vasaline and over-the-counter lotion.

But, I still have hope that maybe I missed something....

If someone has had severe eczema with the dry skin problem - and has found relief - I would love to hear about it!

Teenager's Eczema
by: Zac

Sandi,

Just wanted to give you a couple of instructions on how to use the lotion and gel I sent. And then ask you a few questions so we can discuss your daughter's eczema and aid the healing process.

First for the lotion, I would suggest application twice a day to start with directly on the affected areas. Morning and evening might be best. After bathing when skin is well hydrated is also recommended.

Next, if she has any scalp problems, the styling gel I sent is formulated with FDA approved ingredients to combat eczema/dermatitis.

Simply have her use it as a normal styling gel, paying special attention to work into the scalp with her fingertips particularly in any problem areas.

If she doesn't want the hold it provides, simply have her run a comb or brush through her hair after it sets to loosen the hold.

Now, for some questions so we can work together to help get to the root of her problem.

1. Does your daughter have any known allergies, or is she prone to asthma?

2. Do you notice any changes in her condition when using different laundry detergents?

3. Does she drink alot of caffeine products?

4. Does she have any other medical conditions or is on medication of any kind?

5. Is her diet generally good?

6. Is her condition worse or better at different times of the year?

7. Do any other family members/relatives have similar conditions?

Any feedback you could give us on these or any related information may help us get to the bottom of her problem.

BTW, I have had eczema and dry skin since childhood, (50 years experience now), plus I'm allergic to numerous medications and other substances. As well as being asthmatic.

I also have extremely dry skin as did my grandmother.

I use the lotion and gel to keep mine under control. As does my youngest son. Actually tons of my family and friends use the gel for dandruff and scalp issues, but that's another story.

Anyway, I am very hopeful your daughter will find relief as well. And since her condition sounds somewhat severe, I hope we can come up with some advice to minimize her condition in general while we use the lotion and gel to relieve her symptoms.

Hope to hear from you soon here, so we and all our readers can join together to solve her problem.

Best wishes,
Zac

Sandi,
We all feel for you and your daughter.
I don't do this often, so I hope I won't get tons of requests for free products.

But your case really touched me as I have four daughters myself.

Use the contact us form on our site and let me know where to send you some of our therapeutic lotion and other products.

Please keep an eye on your post here for comments from others, and be sure to keep us updated on how she's doing.

Best wishes,
Zac
