Oily Hair Problems

by De
(Washington DC)

I have very oily hair and was wondering if any could recommend products to help combat the oil.

The oil is genetic (both of my parents have the same problem, as do my siblings). I need to shampoo at least once a day otherwise I end up looking like a greasepot. I've tried all varieties of shampoo (for oily hair, for normal hair, for curly hair, clarifying, moisturizing, etc.). I only condition my hair below the ears and never massage it into my scalp. I've tried using leave-in conditioners, and ones for all hair types (see above). I really haven't found any solution that can extend my washings by a day or more.

Please help!

Hair Masks

Try a hair mask. Hair masks usually work.

Hi De,

I think Zac already gave you a lot of nice Tips ;)
I have the same problem and actually it's hard to solve. Nowadays I am using a shampoo which actually helps my hair be less Oily. maybe you should try it. It's called Bio Natural Shampoo and it's from BatiaandAleeza.com.
let me know if it helps you too! =)

best wishes!

Oily Hair Home Remedy
by: Zac

De,

Here are a few things you can do to help alleviate oily hair. First, if you must use a conditioner, only use it on the ends of your hair and use the smallest amount possible.

As most conditioners actually add oil to your hair, if possible don't use them at all.

Next, wash you hair daily, but not just once. Lather and rinse twice each time you shampoo.

Be sure to lather with fingertips all the way to your scalp. This is where you glands secrete oil.

For extremely severe cases I would suggest either adding a drop or two of degreasing dish soap such as dawn to your shampoo.

You can also try some cider vinegar which is naturally acidic to remove oil. Simply pour a cap full in your palm. And work into your scalp before shampooing.

Give my oily hair home remedy a try and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

By the way, use a shampoo which restores natural PH levels. This will help to return your scalp and glands back to normal function.

We have one in our featured products you can check out.

Best wishes,
Zac
