Mom's battle with Dermatitis

by Tag
(India)

My mom has been having eczema since a few years. She has itching, red, flaking and tearing skin on her hands and feet, but mostly on her palms.

She was diagnosed as having "Contact Dermatitis". She was told to stay away from Soap, detergents, citrus foods, etc. They even told her to stay away from water. She had to keep her hands from getting dry by applying ointment or anything that wouldnt let the skin dry and tear.

But she really hates them. We tried so many doctors and so many medicines. Besides conventional medicines, we tried naturopathy too. Nothing really worked. The main problem was that she found this really hard to accept and we were all hoping for a miracle cure.

It's really painful to know that it's chronic. But since she has accepted the fact, it has become much easier. She doesnt really use much medication now. She makes sure she wipes the parts of the body that have come into contact with water immediately.

And she applies Vaseline regularly as a lubricating agent. And she's not depressed over it anymore. But I really wouldnt mind if somebody found a miracle cure, like something natural, that could totally cure cotact dermatitis.

That would be one gift mom would cherish. But she has definitely come a long way in accepting it. And that itself is the first step to it's cure.

Thank you,
