Mild Adult Acne

by Aimee
(Ohio USA)

I couldn't help but notice that there is no forum here for acne, or more specifically, adult acne. I am twenty eight years old and I have had mild acne since I was a teenager.

I describe mild acne as having a pimple or two here and there in between otherwise normal, smooth skin. Recently though I've noticed my acne problem has become worse and within the past week it has become so pronounced that I hardly recognize myself.

On Monday of this past week I returned home from a month and a half long stay in Costa Rica where my skin had cleared up to flawless after the first week. By Tuesday each cheek was covered in painful bumps and by Wednesday they were pustules. Today is Sunday and there are a combination of scabs and pustules.

I would think this was a rash if it wasn't so acne like. The pustules are pimples, at least they look and feel and behave like them. I am wondering if this could be due to environmental change or if it might be hormonal. I don't believe it is dietary as I haven't had much to eat since I've been back and what I have eaten has been salad and other natural foods.

I have not changed soap and I am actually still using the same products I was using while away. Being winter, the weather in Costa Rica wasn't particularly nice so I didn't spend a lot of time outdoors. Upon returning I am still indoors because it is also winter time here at home.

This problem is very disturbing because my skin is typically quite clear. I haven't applied makeup during this period of time in order to keep from further aggravating my skin but eventually I will need to go out again.

What I would really like to find is a natural cure or treatment for adult acne because I prefer not to put chemicals on my face. I really don't want to take Accutane or similar antibiotics from a dermatologist. Also, I do not have health insurance so I cannot really afford a dermatologist at this time.

Mild Acne
by: Anonymous

Aimee,

Mild acne is a problem to one degree or another for most of us, even at my age. (50)

I occasionally have some bemishes, and in fact a couple of weeks ago, I had what was going to be a whopper on my temple which was rubbing against my eye glass frame.

As soon as I felt it becoming painful and irritated I immediately used our therapeutic lotion on it. It has natural ingredients like Tea Tree oil, Aloe, and peppermint oil along with zinc, which are all anti-inflammatories, antibacterial, antiseptic, and antifungal.

The potential "whopper" was nearly gone the next morning, and completely gone within a day.

My daughters, who are about your age, use it regularly and have cleared their faces up dramatically. They even use it before applying makeup to maintain healthy skin.

For moderate to severe acne, I recommend using a facial scrub/exfoiliator a couple of times a week.
Using the lotion with it will keep skin hydrated, not oily, which are two different issues.

Give it a try, and let us know how it works for you will you?
