Lowlights are Highlights Too

by Sarah
(San Diego, CA)

I have naturally blonde hair. I still have to color it to keep it from turning into that "dishwater blonde" color as I grow older. But after several applications of blonde color (which can bleach out the hair) I have what is called a flat or phoney look to my hair. It gets too blonde.

So my stylist suggest we put some lowlights in my hair. Instead of gold color, she put in a few streaks of auburn, plum and cinnamon in my blonde hair. It gives my hair a warmer look. My hair has more dimension, too. I've gotten a lot of complements that my hair is radiant.

So while some of you may want to put highlights into darker hair, if you have gone totally blonde, you may want to consider lowlights to give it a more natural look with dimension and warmth.
