Long Hair with Split Ends

Hi, I have got very long hair and I wash my hair with shampoo every weekends. My problem is that after I wash my hair in a day or two it got a dry smell that is too smoky kind or too rough. I am using good hair conditioner, sometimes even try with oil massage, I don't use hair dryer as well.
Can anyone help me with a good solution for this.
I do have a hair spray bought from http://www.flatironexperts.com. Not sure whether this can help me with this rough look and smell.
