Is a facial scrub a good idea?

by Dianne
(Washington)

As a middle aged woman, I have used several facial scrubs through the years and find them very refreshing and cleansing. Followed by a toner, my face tingles with cleanliness! I am especially fond of the scrubs that have a fruit scent and are made from all natural products and that do not have alcohol as one of their ingredients.

Cleaning deep is important to me as I know that it prevents wrinkles and keeps one’s skin healthy. I have however, heard recently, and by a major beauty product retailer, that facial scrubs are damaging to your skin, creating larger pores and thus requiring more care afterwards. I was also told that they 'tear up' your skin and actually work in the reverse from what they claim to do.

This was extremely disappointing news to me and since I heard it I have refrained from using them. I have not investigated this any further until now and would really like to hear what others think.

Is this true? Do facial scrubs cause damage to your skin? Is there any substitute product that will clean as efficiently as a facial scrub? What do you suggest for really cleaning one’s face deep and thoroughly

Natural Facial Scrubs
by: Zac

Diane,

I am glad to hear you used natural facial scrubs.
There are many types of exfoiliating scrubs, but using those forumated with natural ingredients is what I would recommend.

Now, a couple of issues do arise. If you are using facial scrubs for deep cleaning that is fine. Although I would recommend two or three times a week in most cases.

Also, your skin is more likely to get dried out, so you will need to moisturize your skin otherwise your wrinkle concerns are not going to be addressed.

Plus using when using facial scrubs for best results your moisturizer needs to have anti-inflammatory properties as well.

We have a great one here that not only has anti-inflammatory properties, but is antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, and an antiallergen.

It is great for all around skin care. I would recommend application after cleansing, or bathing when skin is well hydrated. Or anytime your face feels dry. It won't be greasy or make you skin oily.

Oily skin and well hydrated skin are two completely different things. Oily skin needs to be well hydrated too.

Here is a link to the recommended lotion on our site:
Therapeutic Moisturizing Lotion

Let us know how you like it will you?

Best wishes,
Zac
