How I cured my dandruff

by Laura
(Denver, CO)

I am so excited because I have finally cured my dandruff!!! Since I was about 15 (27 now), I have had dandruff that is very itchy, sometimes yellow and moist, sometimes white and dry. My skin and hair are naturally oily. I would scratch it and it would bleed and make scabs. I used medicated dandruff shampoos like Head and Shoulders for many years that would keep the dandruff away for a day, but it would not cure the problem.

After trying many things that did not work, there are 2 things I credit to getting rid of my dandruff...

1. Oil of Oregano - I read about Oil of Oregano and how it had helped someone else who had tried many things that did not work. I would use a dropper and massage drops of the oil onto my scalp, working in rows over my entire head. I left it on for 15-30 minutes and then shampooed it out. It worked amazingly even from the first time, and I would repeat it every couple of days as needed. It stings a little and I smelled like a pizza, but it was worth it! I bought a little vile of it from my local health food store.

2. Neem shampoo and conditioner - I started using an organic Neem based sham/cond from my local health food store. Neem is a type of plant known for its cleaning abilities. The product I use does not have Sodium Laurel Sulfate in it which almost every cleaning product has. I think my scalp is sensitive to this harsh chemical (and maybe others) and was reacting with dandruff. Since I started using this shampoo I don't even have to use the Oil of Oregano anymore. I know my scalp is healthy and normal now. My dandruff is gone!!!!

Laura,

What you are actually describing is scalp dermatitis. What clued me off was your statement that you sometimes itched yellowish flakes and even scabs.

This is indicative of scalp dermatitis.

I highly recommend FlakeFree therapeutic hair gel formulated with zinc and tea tree oil which remains in continual contact with your scalp.

Shampoos are only in contact for a minute or so at best, so they aren't nearly as effective.

FlakeFree is available on our featured products page.

Best wishes,
Zac
