I had below shoulder length hair which needed to be colored soon, as we were going into the holiday season. We went to my sister in laws house in Topsail NC for the Thanksgiving weekend.

On Friday, my sister in law, her two daughters and I went to CVS to pick up some hair color. She found not only hair color but also highlighter. So we decided to try that out.

But first, she cut my hair, along with her youngest daughter. The haircut turned out great; I now had shoulder length hair ready for coloring. She applied the color, which looked fabulous and then after a wash and dry, she applied the highlights.

They were subtle highlights along the sides and back, put on with an applicator. The highlighter showed up blue, but obviously, ended up blond. The overall effect was stunning.

By the way, my sister in law and 10 year niece are not hair cutters or colorists, but they did a great job.
