hammer toes help

I have hammer toes that I know of. I went to the doctors and that's what they told me that I have hammer toes. They also told me that I would have to have surgery, but my feet does not hurt at all its just I would like to wear sandal but I'm ashamed of my feet. Where the knuckle is at that's were the color of my feet some what changes, basically it gets lighter than the rest of my skin. My toes does not overlap. Can some one help me?
