Guys Need Help for Feet Too

I am submitting my problem here on the hammer toe forum, but I am not sure that I have a hammer toe. On both of my feet, the big toe joint is very swollen. It has begun to affect the kinds of shoes I can wear comfortably.
I can't wear tight fitting shoes, of course. But even shoes that lace across the top which press on that joint are not comfortable any more. And that means most athletic shoes. Is this arthritis? Is this a joint problem? I don't know. I just know that when I wear shoes and walk or stand on my feet all day, that big toe joint really hurts.
Bending down and roling up on the ball of my feet hurts. Standing on my toes to reach something high hurts. And it gets worse right before it rains. I've heard of some people who complain of joint pain when it is humid and while it is raining. But my joint pain, and just in the big toe joint, is worse right before it rains.
When it starts to rain, I feel relief. could anyone tell me what this is? Can anyone tell me a remedy for relieving the pain of the joint. Are there any shoes that are comfortable to wear? Right now I have found some "mocs" that are one piece of fabric, like leather, across the whole foot, without any seams in it, that are comfortable to wear. But that is about it.
Shoes without laces that are made of several pieces of material and have a seam that crosses over the joint of my toe are not comfortable shoes to wear.
Anyone else have similar problems?
Thanks,
Joe
