Deodorant alternatives?

by Windy
(MO, USA)

Hello everyone. I have in the last couple of years developed what I believe is an allergy to deodorant. It started with an itching sensation and progressed over a couple of weeks to cyst-like bumps that are painful.

I stopped using deodorant and began using one of the crystals (these are mineral salts that prevent bacteria from growing, thus stopping odors from happening). After using the crystal for a few weeks the cysts went away.

Just recently I tried a test to see if I could once again use deodorant. I used it for a couple of days before I noticed a soreness in the area, and within a couple of weeks the cysts were back- one under each arm. It's very irritating to me because although the crystals help in controlling odor, they aren't that wonderful and don't stop perspiration at all.

I know there are shots available that can control perspiration but I don't want to go that drastic. Has anyone else out there experienced anything like this? Any suggestions on alternatives? I have tried both Arrid Extra Dry and Secret and seem to have the trouble with both.

I'm thinking it's probably a reaction to the aluminum but I don't see any regular deodorant/antiperspirants without the aluminum in them. I'd like to hear if this is a common problem and also what I could try to help the problem.

Thanks!

Deodorant

Windy,

I think if you use a anti-inflammatory lotion with tea tree oil under your arms you will find it will alleviate any irritation, plus it has a naturally nice smell.

For perspiration, try going to your local drug store and try a fragrance free perspirant.
Ask a clerk if you have trouble finding one.

The advantage to using the tea tree oil lotion will not only be for your deodorant problems, but will also help with irritation from shaving.

Here is a link to it on our site:

Let us know how that helps you will you?

Best wishes,
Zac
