Burning scalp

by Amina Bhana
(South Africa)

My daughter is 8 years old. For the past 1 week she is complaining that her scalp just past her forehead is burning. I have parted her hair and don't see any signs of dandruff or any other signs that something is affecting that area.

What can the problem be?

I wash her hair once a week since she has long hair.

Answer:

A couple of things come to mind.

Are you pulling her hair back in a pony tail? Could be to much tension.

Also, have you been using an alcohol based hair spray? That can irritate some scalps.

Anything unusual getting into her hairline she may be using on her face?

I would use a zinc and tea tree hair gel in the effected area for quick relief. The zinc and tea tree are anti-inflammatory, anti-septic, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial.

We just happen to have the only one I am aware of here:
Zinc & Tea Tree Hair Gel

Best wishes,
Zac
