lumps on scalp

Lumps on scalp are a very common problem experienced by many who think they have severe dandruff.

What they are actually indicative of is scalp dermatitis.
Just like dermatitis does on the skin, it weeps fluid which crusts over. This fluid dries and becomes lumps or bumps on your scalp.

You find yourself scratching your head and feeling these lumps and many times picking them loose. Usually they are a yellowish scab, or red from itching.

I know from experience since I have suffered from dermatitis since the mid 1990's. Fortunately I found the best remedy for this problem some 6 years ago.

Instead of using therapeutic shampoos which are only in contact with my scalp for a short period of time, I use FlakeFree therapeutic styling gel which remains in continual contact with my scalp.

FlakeFree is formulated with zinc, tea tree oil, and numerous beneficial herbal ingredients. Zinc pyrithione is the most common FDA approved active ingredient used to control dandruff, dermatitis, eczema and numerous other skin and scalp disorders.

My scalp cleared up within a couple of days after using FlakeFree therapeutic styling gel. I would recommend it to anyone who has problems with lumps on the scalp.

SCALP Bumps & the tea tree treatment
by: Anonymous

I have the scalp bumps also yes its hard for me to keep my fingers off of it. although it does not itch I still keep picking.

I have tried tea tree oil infact I have a whole dresser drawer full of oil, tea tree, lavender organic soaps ,lemon grass,ect.. olive oil shampoo for build up and neutralizer, I take olive extract, cinnamon and I also have the tea tree body wash with other essential oils ,

I have had severe atopic dermatitis as long as I can remember. As of right now my skin seems to be affested by the essential oils because usually this tim of year I am disgustingly broke out on my face neck and completely cover with it on my arms but MY SCALP is not clearing up!!!!

I ve even been on antibiotics for this .My lymph nodes swell up in my neck and this is very painful.

Answer

Bumps on scalp

by Anna
(UK)

My daughter has recently developed bumps all over her scalp. They hurt her when they are touched or her hair is combed. If scratched they bleed and the remaining hole looks like a little crater.

What is this and how can I make it better?

Answer:

Anna,

What your daughter has is scalp dermatitis. The effected area oozes, or weeps fluid which then dries to a crust and bleed slightly when scratched off. That's what causes the bumps on her scalp.

I recommend using our zinc and tea tree hair gel to treat the symptoms. Applying daily after shampooing hair when wet for best results. Work in well with fingertips and then style as usual.

If a firm hold isn't desired, simply run a comb or brush through the hair after it sets.

You will see improvement in as little as two days.

bumpy scabs on head

by baba
(canada)

When i feel my head there are these bumpy like scabs sticking out, but there only on my scalp and i mean DIRECTLY on my scalp. I cant resist picking them out!

And when i do there either white mixed with brown scabs or yellow. Then they weep a clear fluid and i dont like it because then my scalp gets sore. i will try to find a tea tree oil shampoo today and when i do i hope it works! Thanks for the help.. <3

Answer

You have scalp dermatitis. The dermatitis weeps fluid which then dries and becomes crusty. That's why you get those yellowish scabs.

Sometimes they may even be a bit red or brown from dried blood from scratching.

Use our FlakeFree therapeutic hair gel as well as our tea tree shampoo on our featured products page.

Our products were specifically designed to treat skin and scalp dermatitis, eczema etc.

flaky scalp with raised bumps and soreness

by val williams
(cambridgeshire)

I have been losing my hair for some years Now it is getting worse. I have a underactive thryoid also a stressful job which I guess does not help but the last 5 weeks my head has been really itchy. and big lumps appearing like scabs.

Its so embarassing as I serve the public I cannot wear a hat all the while. My doctor had prescribed a shampoo and Betonavate which I apply twice daily. Its done no good what so ever.

Answer

Val,

What you have is scalp dermatitis. The lumps and scabs are from the "weeping" effect of the patches of dermatitis which secrete fluid and then it dries creating the scabs/lumps.

You subconsciously scratch them making them itch that much more.

Shampoo won't clear it up in most cases since the active ingredients aren't in contact long enough to be effective.

We have formulated FDA approved active ingredients to treat dermatitis, (zinc pyrithione and tea tree oil) in our therapeutic hair gel.

This keeps the active ingredients in constant contact with your scalp providing around the clock treatment.

Simply apply like a normal styling gel working into your scalp a bit with your fingertips. After washing your hair is best since it is easier to work in, but not absolutely necessary.

If you don't like the hold just run a comb or brush through your hair after it sets.

Use daily until your scalp clears up. (usually a couple of days) You can continue to use daily or when ever you see your symptoms returning.

Pink Bump on scalp

What is a pink bump on scalp that bleeds and scabs over and won't go away?

Answer

What you are describing is scalp dermatitis. It bleeds since dermatitis weeps fluid and you scratch it when it dries much like a scab without even thinking about it.

Our flakefree zinc and tea tree hair gel will clear it up for you. I know, I suffered from the condition for years before I personally worked with our chemist to formulate FlakeFree.

You'll find it on our featured products page with more info etc.

Callus caused scalp bump - remedy?

by Loretta
(PA)

Years ago I developed a callus on my scalp which I kept picking at. As a result there is now a fairly large bump that won't go away. Is there any simple way to get rid of it?

Loretta,

I would use a tea tree shampoo which has anti-inflammatory as well as punitive penetrating qualities.

I would also use our zinc and tea tree hair gel which will keep the active ingredients in continual contact with your scalp.

Use like a normal styling gel working into your scalp with your finger tips.
