Bad Highlighting Experience!

by Ashley
(Burlington, WI)

As you can tell my hair is damaged and looks all one color, you can hardly tell i had highlights in it. But when she removed the dark color, all my hair kind of blended in to one blonde color :(

Well my name is Ashley and I have had waist long hair since I was about 17 years old. Despite experimenting with color and highlights I had VERY strong, healthy hair.

Being a girl with long hair it was very difficult finding an expert to highlight all of my mane. But I did find a girl I really liked. I will not disclose the name of her or the salon because I will not bad mouth them.

The girl highlighted my hair with bleach blonde and she told me to trust her, that she was going to add just a little of a darker blonde so my highlights would pop! I trusted her and My hair looked awesome!!!

Jump forward to the second time I get my hair highlighted by her...She foils my hair again, and I tell her to do exactly what she did before and that I did like a few of the light brown/dark blonde on my head.

After that was all said and done, we shampooed it and I looked in the mirror and was immediately pissed. She was like I darkened it up for you a bit so the highlights would really pop. She used a darker brown...aka BLACK on my hair and did not consent with me!!!! I tried to talk myself into it because she had done such a fantastic job.

But the next day I couldn't bear the black streaks in my hair and told her I wanted them lightened up. SO she applied a stripper to my hair, and left it on way too long!!! Tons of my hair feel out leaving me with a stringy long...what feels to be a mullet to me!!!

I was super pissed off at what she had done to my hair. Had she of listened to me and not just "darken it up a bit for me" I would have got what I wanted, and not walked out with half of my hair falling out!!!

TO make matters worse, I guess when you apply a stripper to hair, you can't tell what spots have gotten the stripper on it, so I was left with splotches of dark spots in my hair.

Needless to say I am currently looking for new hairdresser!
