Editor’s Tips for April: Dandruff is not just a winter time problem. While dry skin and scalp are usually aggravated by harsh winter weather, the same can be true particularly for those exposed to salt water sports, and windy or dusty conditions. Maintaining the same treatment used during winter months will ensure your condition does not become an ongoing problem. Watch out for the early spring sun! We all love to get out in the sun early in the spring after a long winter. Just be careful not to assume you can’t get a sun burn this time of year. If you have fair skin, it has not been conditioned during winter months, and can burn easily even in early spring exposure. Be sure to put some sun block on during sunny days when an hour or more of exposure is likely. For those of us with skin allergies, spring brings on numerous challenges. Wearing gloves while gardening will help reduce the chance of getting rashes from plants. Especially if pulling weeds by hand. I recommend using cotton gloves that can be washed frequently removing any irritants that can be transferred to other parts of the body. Bug bites and stings are a major issue this time of year as well. Blooming trees and plants are beautiful to look at, but keep your distance, as our busy little friends are doing their job pollinating flowers and blooms. And it won’t be long until mosquitoes come out depending on your climate and moisture. Be sure to use repellant particularly during morning and evening hours at the slightest sign of those pesky little parasites.
And last but not least is the rise in athletic activities during warmer weather. Remember when using public locker rooms and showers to wear sandals, or flip flops to reduce the chance of fungal infections such as athlete’s foot. Sweating from exercise can create skin rashes for some of us particularly around arm pits and behind the knees. Of course using FlakeFree therapeutic lotion will provide relief for both of these conditions as well as numerous others.
Ok, Ok, now that I’ve been the bearer of bad news related to spring weather, let’s look on the bright side. Our hope for all of our readers is that you have a great spring, and enjoy yourselves after this long winter. Just be careful and use common sense. Be sure to keep a bottle of FlakeFree lotion around the house to treat numerous skin rashes and conditions. For those of us with scalp conditions, the complete FlakeFree therapeutic package including shampoo, gel, spray and lotion helps us keep our skin and scalp clear all year round. Have a great spring everyone! Zac Hawkins executive editor www.skin-and-scalp-treatment.com 404 w 3rd St. Delavan IL 617634 |
